Mrs. Torri Jackson
Hey 4th graders! My name is Mrs. Jackson and this will be my 15th year of teaching! I returned to the classroom five years ago and I cannot be happier! Some of you may recognize me as a previous PTO Co-President of GHES! I am from NC, but my family and I have lived in several different parts of the country before settling in Fort Mill area. We are a retired military family. My husband was a B1-B navigator in the Air Force and I have three children: two high school-age boys and one middle school-age daughter. We love animals! At our house, we have a Great Dane, a rabbit, a crested gecko, a bearded dragon, a Mexican red-knee tarantula, various aquariums full of fish, shrimp, and plant life!
I graduated from Catawba College in NC with a BA in K-6 Elementary Education. I taught one year of middle school at a charter school in NC and also coached the middle school volleyball team. I taught in FL for two years, but the majority of my classroom experience was in Raleigh, NC at a Gifted and Talented Magnet school. There, I was the district trainer for Inquiry Based Science, taught 3rd and 4th grades as well as several elective courses including Photography, Yearbook, Sign Language, and science specific curriculums. I was also named Teacher of the Year at the school and selected as a Top Ten Finalist for Teacher of the Year for the district. Since joining GHES, I have been in 4th grade and love being a Hornet! I am the current Yearbook Advisor, a Peer Evaluator, and the House Leader for AMISTAD!!
I first discovered photography when I was in 7th grade and I have loved it ever since. While living in South Dakota, I ran a photography business for 3 years; mostly shooting families, Seniors, military homecomings, and a few weddings. Photography is still my favorite hobby and I take a lot of pics! I am so very excited for another year doing what I love!
