Famous Scientists of Forces and Motion
Dabbala Rajagopal (Raj) Reddy
Robotics Engineer
Robotics engineers use their knowledge of forces and motion when designing robots for different industries. Robots are made to do jobs that may be too dangerous for humans or jobs that humans do not want to do or are not good at doing. They can be used to explore faraway planets, or help people do everyday tasks. Robots are often used in the manufacturing industry. There are used to assemble cars and pack food. Robotics engineers must understand how force, friction, and mass work together so the robots can function accurately. Robotics engineers spend time in both the office and the lab. The do research and design on a computer. They might analyze the results of tests on the robot. They assemble, test, redesign, and test again. It often takes many years to develop a fully functional robot.
Henry Ford
Automotive Technician
Automotive Technicians fix cars, but why do more than make repairs. They also service cars to keep them in good running condition. They inspect and test the mechanical and electrical systems of cars to make sure they are working properly. To make repairs, an automotive technician uses hand tools, such a pliers and screwdrivers. They also use welding equipment and computers. Automotive technicians must be good problem solvers. They must have good hand-eye coordination. They must also be able to communicate well with vehicle owners. Automotive technicians understand how energy and speed are related. They make sure cars are running efficiently by reducing friction, or lightening the car so it can move faster. They work closely with mechanical engineers.
Giovanni Alfonso Borelli
Biomechanical Engineer
Biomechanical engineers apple mechanical engineering concepts to the human body. They use what they know about forces, motion, energy, and collisions to solve problems. They often design safety equipment to keep people safe during collisions. They design things like helmets, prosthetic limbs, and seat belts. A biomechanical engineer might work to design seat belts for driverless cars. They might test how the seat belts or air bags work when someone collides with a guardrail. Biomechanical engineers like to solve problems and help people. They are advanced in math and science, as well as computer programming.
Ron Toomer
Mechanical Engineer
Mechanical engineers study force and movement of machines. They combine physics, math, and science to design, make, and maintain mechanical systems and structures. They may design anything from household appliances to jets. Mechanical engineers make life more comfortable and create more environmental friendly machines. They are creative, detail-oriented, and like to solve problems.
